SYMBIOSIS

Isolated, strategically placed, hidden in plain sight through the architectural integration to their natural surroundings. Each has its own unique history and yet they're all connected by their shared hardships, customs and traditions. 46 stone-built villages nestled in the mountains of Northern Pindus make up one of the most extraordinary rural areas in Greece, "the place behind mountains", Zagori.

Habitat and inhabitants have become one entity, blending seamlessly into one another by way of mutual respect through the centuries. As ecosystems are fragile beings, symbiosis is the only way to ensure longevity, even if half of the relationship consists of so-called abiotic components. But how can water, soil, and light be considered abiotic when they are the foundation upon which everything is built? How can the very things that give life not be considered the most biotic organisms on this earth? Give me rivers and stones, give me oxygen and sunlight and together we can create everything that we call "Life".

Proceeds from the event will go to aid the work of the charity foundations "Skopos Zois" and “SOS Children’s Villages Greece” . You can learn more about their goals and activities at the following links:
